Your changes could not be saved because this SharePoint Web site has exceeded the storage quota limit. You must save your work to another location. Contact your administrator to change the quota limits for the Web site.

User trying to save file in shared documents on personal site. It’s telling user “ Your changes could not be saved because this SharePoint Web site has exceeded the storage quota limit.

A quota specifies storage limit values for the maximum amount of data that can be stored in a site collection. Quotas also specify the storage size that, when reached, triggers an e-mail alert to the site collection administrator. Quota templates apply these settings to any site collection in a SharePoint farm.

To Track Quotas:
-Site administrators can go to Site Actions -Site Settings and click "Storage space allocation" to review space usage.
-Here they can display lists of libraries, documents, lists and Recycle Bin contents.
-These lists are by default sorted on size, descending. They can be resorted on Date Modified or Size

Resolution:
Server administrators are able to set limits on the amount of storage space that sites can use on the server. Contact your server administrator to request that the storage quota for the Web site be increased.

Exact Steps:
1. Go to your Central Administration a Application
2. On the Application Management page, in the SharePoint Site Management section, click Quota Templates.

I have also seen that user faced this kind of error message usually for their mysites because Personal site’s Limit site storage is set to 100M by default.

If you have any queries/questions regarding the above mentioned information then please let me know...I would be more than happy to help you as well as resolves your issues, Thanks..

  5. Quota process is required because of the following info:
If you are using Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services in a large environment, such as at an Internet Service Provider (ISP) or in a large intranet, you need to be able to maintain control over your server resources and carefully monitor areas such as storage space and site security. You must be able to ensure that one site collection cannot use so many resources that other site collections can no longer function. Windows SharePoint Services allows you to specify quota for site collections, so that you can manage your site and server resources.

Please let me know in case of any further queries, Thank you

Your site has reached the maximum assigned storage quota so you need to get more storage for your site.

if you are not an admin then please raise a request/ ticket with your IT dept that you need more storage quota for your site.

Please let me know in case of any queries, thank you.

  12. Share point 2007: Mysite was approaching storage limit and IT administrator increased storage allocation from the original 100 Mb to 200. As we approach the 100 Mb mark the system is sending warnings for 'approaching' and 'exceeding' the storage allocation even though the memory allocation shows that there are still 110 Mb free on the site. What can I tell the IT guy to do to avoid site lock-down?

    1. I think he has increased the storage quota but did not increase the warning email settings. Tell him if he has set 200MB storage quota then set the warning email at 180MB. as soon as this will in-place then you will not get the notifications.

let me know in case of any further queries, Thank you.
